sunny nails on a sunny day

The weather in New York today is beauuuutiful: sunny & warm, but not so hot that you want to hide away in your bedroom. So to celebrate the sun’s good behavior, I painted my nails a bright, punchy yellow.

The color is OPI’s Fiercely Fiona & it’s the only polish I own from the summer 2010 Shrek Forever After collection. I don’t wear it often, but I love the color.

Also, the makeup I ordered from Urban Decay arrived today! I couldn’t be happier with my purchases.

They’re having an amazing sale where you get three deluxe samples with any $40 purchase, and the samples were so nice that I just couldn’t resist!

I purchased the glide-on eye pencil in Stash, urbanglow cream highlight in Wicked, and lipstick in Lovechild. The deluxe samples I received were a glide-on eye pencil in Gunmetal, UD supercurl mascara, & eyeshadow in Stardust.

patriotic nails + neutral eyes

Since the fourth of July is only a few days away, I painted my nails rather patriotically today (: I’m still not sure what I’m doing for the fourth, but I’m hoping my day will mainly consist of tanning & eating… haha.

Here’s my nails & makeup for today:

Both of the polishes I used are by Orly; the blue one is called Royal Navy & the red one is Bus Stop Crimson. Royal Navy has light teal glitter flecks that my camera didn’t really show in this picture. I used a white acrylic paint with a thin-tipped brush to make the stripes.

    

Neutral makeup again… I’m boring, sorry bout it. Here are the products I used today:

Eyes: MAC Paint Pots in Painterly and Indianwood, L’Oreal Lineur Intense Liquid Eyeliner in Carbon Black, Maybelline Eye-Intense liquid eyeliner in Purple, Urban Decay Glide-on eye pencil in Zero, Laura Mercier mascara

Cheeks: MAC Fleur Power, MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in Semi-Precious Crystal Pink

Lips: NARS lipgloss in Super Orgasm (such an awkward name OMG….)

my makeup organization and storage

My new makeup case came in the mail today & I am in love with it! My old one was literally falling apart & way too small, so I’m super excited to have a new one (: I just spent a half-hour organizing my makeup into it. Here’s a pic:

Isn’t it so neat & organized?! YAY (: Anyway it’s a really beautiful day in the city so I think I’m going to go read outside for a bit before work. Talk to you soon (:

summer shimmer – nails and face of the day

I took this picture when I woke up this morning; it’s the view from the window beside my bed, and I couldn’t love it more. It’s especially nice to have such a lovely view on days like today when I hole up in my bedroom for hours at a time. I had a final exam at 6 PM today for a music class I’m taking, so I basically laid in bed all day studying, listening to classical music and eating shortbread cookies. The exam turned out to be pretty easy: YAY.

Now I’m getting dress to go out to a club downtown with some friends; here are my nails & makeup for tonight:

I’ve been obsessed with this color lately. It’s called Number One Nemesis & it’s from OPI’s Spiderman collection. I love the contrast of the deep green base and gold glitter flecks. It’s not a summery color at all, but yolo (just kidding I don’t actually say yolo/just kidding I actually do but I’m aware it’s a character flaw & I’m trying to stop don’t hate me plz).

      

I kept my makeup really simple today with neutral eyes and subtle coral cheeks and lips. Here are the products I used:

glittery nails and a gloomy morning in NYC

Nails of the Week

My very first post: YAY! It’s a rainy morning in NYC, so I’m brightening up my day with these glittery multi-colored nails. I’m resisting the urge to stay in bed and watch Gossip Girl on Netflix all day long and instead will be out doing laundry, running errands, and going to class. Thank goodness for wellies & de-humidifying hairspray!

Anyway, this nail polish is OPI’s Rainbow Connection. It’s from the OPI Muppets collection, a limited edition line released in Winter 2011, but you can still find the polishes if you scour the internet thoroughly! (Click here to buy Rainbow Connection). This polish has a clear base and a high density of glitter flecks in assorted sizes and colors. I love glittery polish because makes a bold & punchy statement and adds some excitement to outfits that need just that liiittle extra something to complete them.

Well, I’m off to grab breakfast & start the day! My usual Starbucks order during the summertime is a green tea frappuccino, but considering today’s weather I think I’ll opt for a hazelnut latte instead. Stay dry & have a lovely day (:
